First, the official blurb ... James is a certified trainer of NLP who is fiercely committed to delivering the highest possible standard of NLP training in an uncompromisingly ethical and honourable fashion. His background prior to NLP encompasses a rich variety of experiences, ranging from his unversity studies in comparative religion to a promising career in sales, to a brief stint as a teacher of meditation, to an "interesting and instructive" period as a pool shark - though not necessarily in that order. Since the late 1990s, however, James has focused his energies exclusively on learning, mastering and teaching NLP. During this time he has trained and coached hundreds of NLP practitioners, and spent a number of years as one of two main trainers for Australia's foremost business oriented NLP training company, before Developing Magic was established as an independent NLP training provider in 2005. Having studied with and incorporated the approaches of several leading figures in the field, including such notables as NLP co-originator John Grinder and renowned early NLP pioneer Steve Andreas, James blends together a variety of different perspectives, and is occasionally described as one of the field's 'rising stars'. He is also frequently invited to appear as a special guest trainer at courses conducted elsewhere in Australia and around the world. Driven by his ongoing exploration of the things that shape our perceptions and experience, James enjoys a growing reputation in the wider NLP community for his expertise in the area of informal influence. Other areas of specialisation include lateral, critical and systemic thinking skills, and the elicitation and utilisation of altered states of consciousness. You will find James' training style to be informal, entertaining and down to earth, with an emphasis on active group participation.
